Coming into the 2023 Draft, the last time the Celtics selected at pick number 25 was in 2013.
The other years were in 1989, 2002, and 2011.
In all four of those years, the Celtics finished with the following records:
- 1989: 57-25, 1st place Atlantic Division, lost in the NBA Finals to the Los Angeles Lakers.
- 2002: 251st place, last place in the Atlantic Division, lost in the first round of the playoffs to the New Jersey Nets.
- 2011: 355th place, 1st place in the Eastern Conference, lost in the NBA Finals to the Miami Heat.
- 2013: 35th place, traded pick to the Washington Wizards, who then traded the pick to the Chicago Bulls.
By selecting at number 25, the Celtics have had mixed results in the past.
They have landed a few decent players, but they have also had some misses.
It remains to be seen what they will do with the pick this year.
