Air Force Age Requirements: Enlistment and Officer Commissioning
Minimum and Maximum Age Limits
The Air Force has specific age requirements for both enlisted Airmen and commissioned officers. Here are the minimum and maximum age limits for joining the Air Force in 2023:
Enlisted Airmen
- Minimum age: 17 years old (with parental consent)
- Maximum age: 39 years old
Officers
- Minimum age: 18 years old
- Maximum age: 29 years old (for commissioning through Officer Training School)
- Maximum age: 34 years old (for commissioning through the Air Force Academy)
- Maximum age: 39 years old (for commissioning into certain healthcare and ministry fields)
Exceptions and Age Waivers
There may be exceptions to these age requirements under certain circumstances. For example, individuals with prior military experience or a college degree may be eligible for an age waiver. It is recommended to contact a military recruiter for more information on age waiver eligibility.
Additional Requirements
