New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole left his start against the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday night with a right calf cramp.
Cole exited the game in the top of the 5th inning after throwing 78 pitches. He allowed two runs on four hits while striking out eight batters.
The Yankees said after the game that Cole is day-to-day with the injury.
Cole did not appear to be injured at any point during his outing. He was throwing hard and was in command of his pitches.
The Yankees are hopeful that Cole's injury is not serious. He is one of the best pitchers in baseball and they need him to be healthy if they want to win the World Series.
